For: Cradle to Cradle Design Competition, 2016
Premise: design a product that impacts the environment by using a cradle to cradle strategy, using an emphasis on sustainable manufacturing. One of the parameters is to use aluminum in an efficient way, and to design it using Autodesk Fusion 360.
Strategy: current bicycle manufacturing usually does not use recycled aluminum, and the frame could be structurally optimized to use least amount of material.
Final Product:
Introducing Birecycle, bicycles reimagined for the environment. Its optimized frame allows a more efficient use of aluminum than standard frames, minimizing consumer cost and redefining the aesthetic appeal. Birecycle utilizes environment friendly materials, and structures manufacturing to have an entirely recyclable process for the aluminum frame, in contrast with current bicycle manufacturers. This stands as a new sustainable transportation method, taking the bicycle experience to an even cleaner and sharp look.
